  Open Letter
Dear Dogs (yes, all four of you),

When I say to move, it means go someplace else, not switch positions with each other so there are still three of you in the way.

The dishes with the paw prints are yours and contain your food. The other dishes are mine and contain my food. (Please note, placing a paw print in the middle of my plate and food does not stake a claim for it becoming your food and dish, nor do I find that aesthetically pleasing in the slightest.)

The stairway was not designed by NASCAR and is not a racetrack. Beating me to the bottom is not the object. Tripping me doesn't help because I fall faster than you can run.

I cannot buy anything bigger than a king-size bed. I am very sorry about this. Do not think I will continue to sleep on the couch to ensure your comfort. Look at videos of dogs sleeping. They can actually curl up in a ball. It is not necessary to sleep perpendicular to each other, stretched out to the fullest extent possible. (I also know that sticking tails straight out and having tongues hanging out the other end, to maximize space used, is nothing but sarcasm.)

My compact discs are not miniature Frisbees.

My books are not between-meal snacks. If you feel you need roughage in your diets, go outside and chew on the grass.

For the last time, there is NOT a secret exit from the bathroom. If by some miracle I beat you there and manage to get the door shut, it is not necessary to claw, whine, bark, attempt to turn the knob, or to try and get your paw under the edge to pull the door open. I must exit through the same door I entered. (In addition, I have been using the bathroom for years... canine attendance is not mandatory.)

The proper order is kiss me, then go smell the other dogs' backside. I cannot stress this enough. It would be such a simple change for you.

Love, Mom

This is how I see it.

Love is like 2 people filling up a piece of paper...

A relationship starts off as a clear piece of paper. A guy and a girl agree to write on that piece of paper. When it starts, both are excited as it's their first time working together. They fill up the paper with the best of things they can think of. Sometimes the guy writes more, sometimes the girl writes more. Some people write without thinking much, some write after much thought.

As the writing carries on, it gets more and more tiring. The couple has to be motivated to continue writing. This is the commitment and responsibility part of a relationship. As long as the urge to write continues, the writing will never end. It will carry on, papge after page until one pen's ink run out. This is eternal love till death do us apart...

Some couples prefer to write together, some write their own and combine the efforts. Neither side should be the only one writing, or else the ink may get blocked for the party who writes non-stop. which then leads to one of the people becoming burnt out, and not wanting to give anymore.

The character of a person is like the handwriting on the paper... Everyone has his/her handwriting. It is very difficult to change one's handwriting. Not impossible but it takes a lot of time and hard work. That is the same as with one's character. It is difficult to imitate the handwritings of another person. Sometimes, to make the writing on the paper look more presentable, it could be necessary for either side to slightly alter the style of his/her handwritings...

A mistake in love is like a smudge on the paper... Whether purposely or accidentally a smudge is a smudge. No matter how well the writing has gone. A smudge will leave a mark no matter how well you cover it. Whether or not to keep on writing will depend on the perception of the couple. Whether they mind the content more or the outlook of the piece of work more.

Worst case is when the paper is torn. It'll leave a very ugly mark. Again, the decision lies with the couple, each situation is unique and requires varying solutions on how to fix the problem.

To break-up is to stop writing... Many reasons can lead to this ending. One party could be the one writing non-stop and becomes too tired to carry on anymore. One party or both could be unsatisfied with the content or really dislike what the other is writing.

Sometimes you just have to cut your losses, and start over. Get a fresh, clean piece of paper and try to write a new beginning... and perhaps a better ending than the last one.

"What are you looking for in a man?"

After much thought, this is the conclusion I reached.

I need a man who is striving for perfection in every aspect of life.

I am looking for someone who is striving for perfection mentally because I need conversation and mental stimulation. I don't need or want a simple-minded man.

I need a man who is striving for perfection financially because I don't need a financial burden.

I need a man who is striving for perfection emotionally, because once I put my heart out there, it is forever, and I need that person to handle with care.

I am looking for someone who is sensitive enough to understand what I go through as a woman, but strong enough to keep me grounded.

I am looking for someone who I can respect. In order to be submissive, I must respect him. I cannot be submissive to a man who isn't taking care of his business. I have no problem being submissive...he just has to be worthy.

I am looking for a man who is honest with me. And perhaps more importantly, one who is honest with himself. I don't want or need someone to try to make me believe something, when the reality of it, is something different.

I am looking for someone who can be both my biggest critic and my biggest fan all wrapped into one. What good does it do to only have half the package? I take the good with the bad, and appreciate honesty in all regards.

I am looking for a man who can take care of me. Don't get me wrong... I am not looking for someone to live my life, but rather someone who is there to pick me up if I fall, and maybe even catch me when I trip. I want someone who is there for me, no matter what he thinks of my decisions. I am looking for something unconditional.

But most of all, I am looking for a man who can make me laugh. That is the sure way to my heart. One who can make me smile. And not only put a smile on my face, but in my heart and soul as well.

Perhaps I am asking a lot. But then again, I'm worth a lot.

  THE WORK OF STEVEN WRIGHT

If you're not familiar with the work of Steven Wright, he's the guy who once said "I woke up one morning and all of my stuff had been stolen...and replaced by exact duplicates." Here are some more of his gems:

I'd kill for a Nobel Peace Prize.

Borrow money from pessimists - they don't expect it back.

Half the people you know are below average.

99% of lawyers give the rest a bad name.

42.7% of all statistics are made up on the spot.

A conscience is what hurts when all your other parts feel so good.

A clear conscience is usually the sign of a bad memory.

If you want the rainbow, you gotta put up with the rain.

All those who believe in psychokinesis, raise my hand.

The early bird may get the worm, but the second mouse gets the cheese. (Think about it some more.)

I almost had a psychic girlfriend but she left me before we met.

OK, so what's the speed of dark?

How do you tell when you're out of invisible ink?

If everything seems to be going well, you have obviously overlooked something.

Depression is merely anger without enthusiasm.

When everything is coming your way, you're in the wrong lane.

Ambition is a poor excuse for not having enough sense to be lazy.

Hard work pays off in the future, laziness pays off now.

I intend to live forever - so far, so good.

If Barbie is so popular, why do you have to buy her friends?

Eagles may soar, but weasels don't get sucked into jet engines.

What happens if you get scared half to death twice?

My mechanic told me, "I couldn't repair your brakes, so I made your horn louder."

Why do psychics have to ask you for your name?

If at first you don't succeed, destroy all evidence that you tried.

A conclusion is the place where you got tired of thinking.

Experience is something you don't get until just after you need it.

The hardness of the butter is proportional to the softness of the read.

To steal ideas from one person is plagiarism; to steal from many is research.

The problem with the gene pool is that there is no lifeguard.

The sooner you fall behind, the more time you'll have to catch up.

The colder the x-ray table, the more of your body is required to be on it.

Everyone has a photographic memory, some just don't have film.
  I discovered
that I am
that I can
that I will be

that I am stronger
that I am persistant
that I am beautiful

that I can achieve more
that I can survive anything
that I can love unquestionably

that I will be individual
that I will be unusual
that I will be lofty things

I discovered
that I am
that I can
that I will be

  I waited...

I'm feeling so alone now tonight
Even though you're here by my side
Is there something on your mind
From the world you left behind

I feel as if the love shared before
Doesn't wanna be here no more
And if there's something on your mind
There's never been a better time
To tell me

Do you love me
Still wanting me
Like I need you

There came a crossing on the road
If only there were signs that show me which direction I should go
I live my life with no regrets
It hasn't caught up on me yet
But I never knew I was losing you

I wonder as you walk through the door
Are you gonna hurt me some more?
Never took you for the kind
Who would play upon my mind

Tell me what are you looking for
I can't play your games any more
And if there's something on my mind
I will always find the time
To tell you

I still love you
Still wanting you
How I need you

There came a crossing on the road
If only there were signs that show me which direction I should go
I live my life with no regrets
It hasn't caught up on me yet
But I never knew I was losing you

It's not for the first time
Someone else has hurt me
By faking it too long
Where did we go wrong?
Yeah

There came a crossing on the road
If only there were signs that show me which direction I should go
I live my life with no regrets
It hasn't caught up on me yet
But I never knew I was losing you
Losing you.
When I woke up this morning, I couldn't keep a question out of my head: Will I ever find me? And since it was there and I didn't have much to do, I sat down and tried to answer that question. Based on experience I think we don't find ourselves at the end of the road, au contraire, it is while walking that road when we recognize parts of ourselves, like shadows of a color, and each shadow is a different thing. So the question was answered in five minutes so, I'll keep walking and collecting the different shadows of my unique color.

Now the question in my mind is: Will I ever stop wondering things like that? Am I ever going to say: Ok, I am completely happy with myself, I am found!? Or will I be on an eternal quest?

Five things I love without reservaton:

1. Magoo. My dog. I've only had him for a year, but in that time, I've come to realize that I can't imagine being without him.And after everything that happened with my goafer, I had no intentions of giving my heart to him... but it happened, and I have no regrets about that.

2. Teaching. It is indescribable the effect and feeling that occurs with my kids. No two days are ever the same, and for someone who gets bored quite easily, that is definitely a good thing. To see one of my students smile or hear them laugh or wwatch them score the first time... these things are timeless and are like nothing else in the world... because just for a moment, all is perfect.

3. Morning. Despite my hate of the alarm going off, I truly love this time of day. It's the only time of day when everything is possible. That's a feeling I'm clinging to with both hands, nowadays.

4. Reading. Nothing bad ever comes of reading. My students have asked me, "Do you think you've read over a thousand books?" Oh God, yes! Many thousands, I bet. I've been reading since I can remember--devouring books and sometimes reading them again. I have an insatiable need to read all the time. . .I never get tired of it. Ever.

5. The basketball court. Doesn't matter what time of year, or what time of day. The court is one of my favorite places in the world. I love it. It takes me to nother place and time. It allows me to focus and forget and remember all at the same time.

Yes, you've discovered my secret. I ramble incoherently. Often.

  Hoobastank "The Reason"

I'm not a perfect person
There's many things I wish I didn't do
But I continue learning
I never meant to do those things to you
And so I have to say before I go
That I just want you to know

I've found a reason for me
To change who I used to be
A reason to start over new
and the reason is you

I'm sorry that I hurt you
It's something I must live with everyday
And all the pain I put you through
I wish that I could take it all away
And be the one who catches all your tears
Thats why i need you to hear

I've found a reason for me
To change who I used to be
A reason to start over new
and the reason is You [x4]

I'm not a perfect person
I never meant to do those things to you
And so I have to say before I go
That I just want you to know

I've found a reason for me
To change who I used to be
A reason to start over new
and the reason is you

I've found a reason to show
A side of me you didn't know
A reason for all that I do
And the reason is You

I feel confined, I feel as if I am all alone, even if I'm not. I know that there are people who are there for me... who would take time outta there own lives to care and listen, but I still feel as if I'm distant from everyone. It seems the more I try to explain what it is that is going on...the farther away I get from the actual problem...does that even make sense?

If I could turn back the hands of time...

I don't feel well right about now...I've been thinking a lot about the past and how everything just seems to disappear and no one really knows why or cares. I've been thinking a lot about it lately and I can't come to a conclusion...what if I could go back and change something, would things be different now? Would they be better? I mean there is so much shit that could have been avoided, but I guess thats how life works. Some people say that there is that special person out there for you and you should wait until he walks into your life. But if I am just sitting around here waiting for that perfect person to come and find me, am I not waiting in vain? Is that really the way life works? Who knows... maybe I have already met him...

If only I could find a swingset and just stay there all night...that's the life.

I hate the wide-eyed semi-panic, the knowledge that I should sleep but can't, the failed attempts, the time spent lying there wishing for sleep wishing for unconsciousness.

Now's the sort of time when I'd like to talk to you because this is the time when I can formulate my thoughts and actually say what is on my mind. Everything I want to say. Everything I would say if I were talking to you.
I don't want to grow old.
I look around and I see all these things changing around me, I'm not ready for change.
I know that in the future I will loose touch with all that I hold dear to me now, it will move away from me or I will shift from it. I know that you can argue that the people I feel close with now will age and change with me, but I know that it wont be the same. I haven't really changed all that much in the last 4 years. I'm the same person, I don't change. I wish
I could sometimes, but I just don't. So all this will leave me one day, or I will leave it. I'm not ready for that. Thats just one step closer to becoming even more lost and set in my ways. I want to use the time I have now, but I don't know how.

I am long winded tonight... I appologize...
IF I ever have children, and I have a girl... this is how I hope she sees her life. This is how I hope she lives it.

I HOPE YOU DANCE

I hope you never lose your sense of wonder,
You get your fill to eat but always keep that hunger,
May you never take one single breath for granted,
God forbid love ever leave you empty handed,
I hope you still feel small when you stand beside the ocean,
Whenever one door closes I hope one more opens,
Promise me that you'll give faith a fighting chance,
And when you get the choice to sit it out or dance.

I hope you dance....I hope you dance..........

I hope you never fear those mountains in the distance,
Never settle for the path of least resistance,
Livin' might mean takin' chances, but they're worth takin',
Lovin' might be a mistake, but it's worth makin',
Don't let some Hell beant heart leave you bitter,
If you come close to sellin' out reconsider,
Give the heavens above more than just a passing glance,
And when you get the choice to sit it out or dance.

I hope you dance....I hope you dance.
I hope you dance....I hope you dance.
(Time is a wheel in constant motion always rolling us along,
Tell me who wants to look back on their years
and wonder where those years have gone.)

I hope you still feel small when you stand beside the ocean,
Whenever one door closes I hope one more opens,
Promise me that you'll give faith a fighting chance,
And when you get the choice to sit it out or dance.

Dance....I hope you dance.
I hope you dance....I hope you dance.
I hope you dance....I hope you dance..
(Time is a wheel in constant motion always rolling us along,
Tell me who wants to look back on their years
and wonder where those years have gone.)
Have you ever noticed that the worst way to miss someone is when they are right beside you and yet you can never have them... when the moment you can't feel them under your fingertips... you miss them? Have you ever wondered which hurts the most; saying something and wishing you had not, or saying nothing and wishing you had? I guess the most important things are the hardest things to say. They are the things you get ashamed of because words diminish them, words shrink things that seemed timeless when they were in your head... to no more than living size when they are brought out... Don't be afraid to tell someone you love them. If you do, they might break your heart... but if you don't, you might break theirs.

Have you ever decided not to become a couple because you were so afraid of losing what you already had with that person? Your heart decides who it likes and who it doesn't. You can't tell your heart what to do. It does it on its own... when you least suspect it, or even when you don't want it to.

Have you ever wanted to love someone with everything you had, but that other person was too afraid to let you? Too many of us stay walled because we are too afraid to care too much... for fear that the other person does not care as much, or at all. Have you ever loved someone and they had absolutely no idea whatsoever? Or fell for your best-friend in the entire world, and then sat around and watched her fall for someone else? Have you ever denied your feelings for someone because your fear of rejection was too hard to handle? We tell lies when we are afraid... afraid of what we don't know, afraid of what others will think, afraid of what will be found out about us. But everytime we tell a lie... the thing we fear grows stronger. Life is all about risks and it requires you to jump. Don't be a person who has to look back and wonder what they would have, or could have had.
